No. CC/03/2025 dated August 27, 2025, aims to fill 1543 positions for Field Engineers and Field Supervisors in Electrical, Civil, and Electronics & Communication disciplines. These roles are for ongoing and upcoming projects across various regions and subsidiaries, engaged through the POWERGRID Common FTE Written Test-2025. The engagement is temporary and contractual, initially for 24 months or until project completion, whichever is earlier, with possible extensions up to a maximum of 5 years based on performance and requirements.

All candidates must have at least one year of post-qualification experience as on September 17, 2025. Experience in PSU/listed companies, especially in the power sector, is preferred.

Relaxations and Concessions
- OBC (NCL): 3 years age relaxation.
- SC/ST: 5 years age relaxation.
- PwBD: 10 years (UR/EWS), 13 years (OBC-NCL), 15 years (SC/ST).
- Ex-Servicemen (Ex-SM)/DESM: As per government directives (period of service deducted from age, max 3 years excess).
- Victims of Riots: As per government directives.
- For POWERGRID contract experience: Up to 5 years age relaxation for former FTEs/FTBs with at least 1 year service.
PwBD sub-categories identified for each post (e.g., HI-D/HH, LD-OA/OL, etc.). Certificates required in prescribed formats.
Compensation and Benefits
- Field Engineer (excluding RDSS): ₹30,000 basic + IDA + HRA + 35% perks (CTC ≈ ₹8.9 lakhs/year).
- Field Supervisor (excluding RDSS): ₹23,000 basic + IDA + HRA + 35% perks (CTC ≈ ₹6.8 lakhs/year).
- For RDSS Project: Same bands, but perks as variable pay (up to 35%, performance-based).
- Annual increment: 3% after each successful year.
- Other Benefits: EPF, Gratuity, Medical (self/family), Group Personal Accident Insurance, Leaves (CL, SL, EL), Mobile reimbursement. No other allowances/PRP/incentives.
Opportunity for regularization to permanent posts after 2 years as FTE, subject to internal selection and policy.
Selection Process
- Common FTE Written Test-2025: 1-hour MCQ test (75 questions: 50 Technical Knowledge, 25 Aptitude). No negative marking. Qualifying: 40% (UR/EWS), 30% (reserved). Pan-India centers (Delhi NCR, Bhopal, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Guwahati, Mumbai). Extra time for PwBD.
- Score Validity: 1 year.
- For Field Engineers: Shortlisting for interview (qualifying 40%/30%). Merit based on interview; empanelment ratio 1:5.
- For Field Supervisors: Empanelment based on test marks; ratio 1:5, followed by document verification.
- Candidates can apply to multiple regions with valid score, but join only one. Disqualification in verification bars further processes.
Health standards: Must meet PGCIL medical norms (no relaxations).
