UPSC Central Armed Police Forces – Assistant Commandants (ACs) Examination 2026 – 349 Posts

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the Central Armed Police Forces (ACs) Examination, 2026 notification for recruiting Assistant Commandants (Group A) in various CAPF forces. A total of 349 vacancies have been announced (tentative and subject to change). This is a prestigious opportunity for graduates to join forces like BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, and SSB as Assistant Commandants.

Age Limit (as on 01 August 2026)

  • Minimum Age: 20 years (born not later than 01 August 2006)
  • Maximum Age: 25 years (born not earlier than 02 August 2001)
  • Age Relaxation:
    • SC/ST: Up to 5 years
    • OBC: Up to 3 years
    • Civilian Central Government Servants / Ex-Servicemen: Up to 5 years (cumulative for reserved categories in service)

Date of birth must be as per Matriculation/Secondary School certificate; no changes allowed post-submission.


Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree from a recognized University incorporated by an Act of Central/State Legislature, or equivalent institution under UGC Act, or deemed University.
  • Candidates appearing in final year exams of 2026 are eligible but must produce passing proof later.
  • Degrees from distance learning/part-time/correspondence not accepted.
  • Professional/technical qualifications recognized as equivalent by Government may be considered if from approved institutions.

Nationality: Indian citizen (or subjects of Nepal/Bhutan with Government consent). Both Male and Female candidates are eligible.

  • Visit the official UPSC website or upsconline.nic.in.
  • Complete registration (create account if needed, generate Universal Registration Number – URN).
  • Fill the Common Application Form (CAF) and Exam Specific Module.
  • Upload required documents: Recent passport-size photo (20-200 KB .jpg), signature (20-100 KB .jpg), live photo, Photo ID, DOB proof, educational certificates, category certificates (OBC/EWS valid dates apply), etc.
  • Pay the fee (if applicable) via online modes.
  • Select exam centre (first-apply-first-allot basis) and force preferences (BSF/CRPF/CISF/ITBP/SSB).
  • Review, submit, and take printout of the application.
  • Apply early to secure preferred exam city; no withdrawal allowed.
  • After written result, update additional details within 15 days if required.
